LexisNexis Opt Out & Data Removal Guide

The LexisNexis opt-out procedure is one of the most difficult to get through. Part of this is due to how difficult it can be to access the right opt-out page. To start off, the company is split into LexisNexis Risk Solutions, which is a data broker, and LexisNexis Legal & Professional, which doesn’t primarily deal with data.

In this article, we’ll cover LexisNexis Risk Solutions. Of the two separate online opt-out forms you can submit, one requires you to provide more sensitive information, such as your Social Security number (SSN). Below, we’ll walk you through the process that provides you with the most data privacy.

What next?

LexisNexis is just one of hundreds of data brokers. These companies often trade and sell data among themselves, as well as with individuals and other businesses. If you want to take your data off the market to protect your privacy and online security, we recommend removing your personal data from all data brokers

You can find which people search sites sell your personal information by looking up your name in a web search engine. You’ll also have to do some research on data brokers operating in your area to get an idea of which ones may have your data, as most business-to-business data brokers don’t index their data files.

How long is the LexisNexis opt-out process?

It should take you between 10 and 15 minutes to opt out from LexisNexis Risk Solutions. This depends on how many people you are requesting removal for, how many addresses you want to include, and which opt-out reason you select.

When will LexisNexis delete my information?

It may take LexisNexis up to 30 days to process your opt-out request. If your data isn’t removed after 30 days, you can reach out to them via the help page, or by calling 1-888-497-0011.

Where does LexisNexis get your data?

What happens when you opt out of LexisNexis?

Once you opt out of LexisNexis, your personal information will no longer be available for users to buy. However, it will remain in products regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, restricted public records for law enforcement, and third-party data available through real-time gateways.

Can LexisNexis add my information again, even after they suppress my data?

Yes, although it’s not guaranteed either way, your data may show up on their website again after a while. This happens when the new data they collect cannot be matched to previous records they removed.

It’s the same with most data brokers. This is why we recommend you regularly check back on sites that have already deleted your personal information. You can also avoid the hassle of re-sending opt-out requests by using an automated data removal service like Incogni.

Does LexisNexis have the right to sell my data?

LexisNexis does have the legal right to collect and sell your data. However, they are regulated by data privacy laws such as the CCPA, meaning you have the right to make them delete your personal information.

Should I opt out of LexisNexis?

Yes. With the level of detail LexisNexis provides its users, there are a lot of potential risks to the record owners. This can range from law enforcement bypassing warrants and subpoenas to obtain information for investigations to regular scammers using your data against you

To protect and keep your data private, we recommend removing your personal information from any websites like LexisNexis that publish or sell it online.
