Check you’ve got the right listing. Right-click on the address bar and select “copy” to grab the URL.

Click on “redaction” at the very top of the page to get to the redaction request form.

Opt out of NJ Parcels step 4

Make sure the “page to be redacted” field has autofilled with your listing URL. If it hasn’t, right-click on it and select “paste” to drop the URL you copied in the previous step.

Enter your email address, your full name as it appears in your listing, and a reason for your redaction request – we recommend “privacy concerns.”

Accept the declaration and click on “submit request” to complete the process.

TIP: Use a throwaway email account or masked email address to protect your privacy.

5. Continue your data removal journey

NJ Parcels will evaluate your request within 72 hours. If they decide to remove your private data, they’ll do so for “approximately one year.” The truth is, though, that it might reappear even sooner than that.

This is a huge problem with data brokers: if they don’t properly match new information to an opted-out or redacted listing, they create a duplicate listing. Come back to NJParcels.com every few months to make sure that hasn’t happened to you. Submit a new redaction request every time it does.

The other problem with data brokers is that there are an estimated 4,000 of them out there, collecting, sharing, and profiting from your private data. We recommend tracking the ones that have your data down and opting out of each and every one of them. Follow our opt-out guides to help you on this journey. Or you can start from these 10 guides:

Use our easy-to-follow guides to do this manually. You can also try our automated data removal service to let us handle it. We use a unique algorithm to create a hit list of data brokers and then send out dozens of opt-out requests at a time, handling each process and dealing with rejection appeals on your behalf.
